History,

In December of 2016, three C4FM users began meeting in the CQ Vancouver room:  Ted (VE7LE), Jason (VE9CAS) and Denis (VE3BF).  The three radio operators soon formed a friendship and the idea of a Cross-Canada Net was born.

The Cross Canada C4FM Weekly Net first aired on February 1st, 2017.   Since then, the popularity of the room grew rapidly within a few months operating, the high traffic flow surpassed the available internet bandwidth and the founders decided that the room needed to be moved to a new hosting site that could accommodate the number of participants.  This change, which was spearheaded and coordinated by Hal (VE1LV), resulted in a move to its current location in Truro Nova Scotia hosted by the Truro Amateur Radio Club.  With so many repeaters spanning Canada from west to east calling the room home, it was appropriately renamed CQ Canada.
